This is an album for the more openminded proglovers out there (and shouldn't
every proggy be, I wish it were true). This band has started as a black metal band
(ooops!) but has grown to a really unique band with a very difficult to describe
sound. They're from the Chech Republic and this album is a concept album about
people in ancient times. The basic style is bombastic heavy metal with some very
original acoustic addings (bass flute, acoustic guitars and percussion). The lyrics
are in English but the CD-booklet also contains the Chech translation. The singer sounds
a lot like David Bowie on drugs (wasn't David almost always on drugs when singing?).
The rhythms on the album are sounding like "Frank Zappa goes metal". I notice I am
mentioning other artists in in a review of a band that can't be compared with any other band,
maybe only (for the proggies slightly into black metal) with a more progressive
Bathory in the "Hammerheart-days". When I saw this CD in the sales section of a record
store in Amsterdam, I liked the cover, and I took the chance... That's definitely
something everybody should do once in a while, surprise yourself!
P.S. Don't laugh at the pseudonyms of the band members, that's something from their
black metal days.
