Well, what can I say. Queen in some strange kind of top form. This was
actually the last album released with Freddie still alive. Then some
time after "Made In Heaven" came and surprised us all, with the voice of
a dead man on it. Pretty scary, but indeed really cool...
I see this Queen album as one of the best, but that is a matter of
taste. I don't value their rock songs, as much as others may do. Of
course, they're not bad, but from Queen I want the mystic epic feel. The
kind of style that is shown in especially in the songs "Innuendo", "The
Show Must Go On" or the old ". The first mentioned has that atmospere
that you really don't see Queen in so often. It's got this mystic
masquerade feel with the word phantomime written all over. Sounds kind
of sad. Not many knows this, even if it's written in the CD booklet, but
the spanish guitar in this song is actually played by no other than,
Steve Howe (Yes). "The Show Must Go On" is what I would call "one of the
best songs ever written", and no just by Queen. It's actually one of the
best songs in the world. That is quite an achievement from Freddie, but
he usually does a pretty great job...
Other great ones on the album are track 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8. "Delilah" is
one of those songs that Freddie shows his silly side in, but after a
while it really grows and becomes a good song. The vocal performance is
of course good...
Long Live Freddie Mercury!
