TRANSCENDENT
Written by Magnus Florin

Omega is problably not a well known band to you. It wasn't for me either, until I bought "Blue Syndicate" by the Hungerian guitarist Tamás Szekeres. I loved his style from the first moment I heard it, and then somone told me that he played in a band called Omega. I quickly found "Transcendent" and realize I had to get this one too. One of the vocalists, Edwin Balogh, appeared on "Blue Syndicate" as well, and I had already become really fond of his voice. I was soon about to hear him in a quite as good achievement. It's his voice that 's most heard on "Transcendent", as far as I know. I don't even have a picture of how János sounds like.

Think of original rock music, with minor penta riffs and a copy of Rod Stewarts voice by the microphone. Then add some progressive atmospheres and you've got Omega. On this album they have a little tendency to get stuck in the slow motion mode though, since there's really only one fast song, "Tower of Babel". That doesn't make he album bad, but "Tower of Babel" quickly became my favourite track. Others are track 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9. They're all really good actually, but I guess those are the best.
