SEASONS END
Written by Magnus Florin

The album that introduced the new Marillion vocalist to the world. I can understand those who discards this period, without Fish, but I can also see why some people love it. It's a fact that Steve Hogarth is a much better singer that Fish was, but he may not have the same feel for lyrics and stage acting. Fish had always been the clown and actor in the band, and Steve is more of a regular guy. He's doing well live though, and I don't want to call him a boring singer or anything. As i said, I'm quite fond of both Marillion periods.

This album has a real Marillion classics on it. "Easter" is of course one of them. Others to mention are "Hooks In You" and "The Space". "Easter" is the kind of song that really gets into your mind the first time you hear it. It's quite a beautiful song actually, led by Steve Hogarth and an acoustic guitar. It grows and becomes something great, like a lot of other Marillion songs. "Hooks" is a fast rocker, maybe even one of the fastest songs Marillion ever has done. Whatever that means.

So, if you think that Fish is the reason why you're not listening to Marillion, then give this later period a chance.
