SCRIPT FOR A JESTERS TEAR
Written by Magnus Florin

As you can see there are only six tracks on this album. Does that make a difference, when we're talking about Marillion. Four of them are around eight minutes long, and one is seven. This is the first album release from Marillion, from the times when Fish was still with the band...

If you look at the collection album "Best of Both Worlds", you can see that tracks 1, 2, 4 and 6 are on it. First of all I think it's quite strong of an album to get 4 out of six songs on a collection. And second I think that the one who put that collection together did a great job. Those tracks are indeed the ones that are the highlights of "Script...". Of course, if you're fond of the style of Marillion, then you'll like them all. If I was to point out one track as a winner on this one, then without any doubt it would be "Forgotten Sons". That song is probably one of the best that Marillion has ever done. "Halt, who goes there!...death...approach, friend!", and then the melody of the century. Is that good or what!

A difference with this album is that Mick Pointer is the drummer, and not Ian Mosley. Of course, Ian is the better one of them, but Mick does a real good job on the album. This is also the album with the most influences from Genesis.
