MISPLACED CHILDHOOD
Written by Magnus Florin

This album is seen as the best by many Marillion fans. This may be because of its great epic feel, since the whole album acts as one long story. All the songs are tied together and it should really be listened to in that way only and not just some songs. "Kayleigh" became a huge hit single for the band and was a played on radio in England.

As I said, this album should really be heard as one long piece of music. To mention some of the "parts" that are better, I would say first of all "Kayleigh" followed by "Lavender". These two have always been performed together when the band has played live. "Heart of Lothian" is another great one, with the songtitle referring to the Heart that's in the street of Edinburgh. Every time a citizen passes by he should spit in the Heart of Lothian... Fish is of course from this neighbourhood. One of the best songs Marillion has ever done is track 9, "Childhoods End". What a song, and what a feel. It's really good when Fish plays with the words and sings "And it was morning, and I found myself mourning for a childhood that I thought had disappeared". Poetry!
