MASQUE
Written by Magnus Florin

This out of print album by Kansas, is finally in my hands. And I tell you, if you have the chance of getting this, then do it. No matter if you've heard it or not before, cause this is one of the best Kansas albums ever.

Introducing "It Take A Womans Love (To Make A Man)" is a great rock track with very mighty vocals from Steve Walsh. He really fits into this kind of rock songs. Songs like "Icarus - Borne on Wings of Steel" and "Mysteries and Mayhem" are of course known to all that have heard Kansas before. These songs have been played continuously live over the years, and not without a reason. They are superb tracks. My all time favorite Kansas track must be "Child of Innocence" with great vocals both from Robbie and Steve, which makes it a great song in general. But the thing with this track is that it's got the guitar riffs, the vocals, the melodies, the parts of harmony, so... It's simply put a great song. Other superb tracks are the half epic song "All the World", "It's You" and of course the mighty "The Pinnacle". Last mentioned is one of the last tracks I heard by the band, since this is also the last album I got by them. But "The Pinnacle" is one of those songs you know, who really gets you and just by listening to the music it makes you think. Think about the world and it's wonders... But hey, isn't that what Kansas is all about.

The only negative thing with this album (and I feel ashamed of putting thoughts like that over "Masque") is that the cover is probably the most-not-pretty that Kansas has ever used. But what difference does that make when the music is so great!
