DRASTIC MEASURES
Written by Magnus Florin

Before I actually bought this album I knew that it was not gonna be as good as all the other Kansas albums. The fact that there was another singer, instead of my favourite Steve Walsh, was only that a negative thing. Not that John Elefante is a bad, he actually sounds like a Kansas singer, but most of the songs were also written by him and his brother Dino. Kerry Livgren has contributed with three (?) songs on this album and those are "Mainstream", "End of The Age" and "Incident On A Bridge". All these tracks are great, so I'll comment the others instead. When did Kerry ever create an uninteresting piece.

The introducing "Fight Fire With Fire" is a pretty good one, and it was put on the "Best of..." later on. Other really good ones are "Going Trough The Motions" and "Don't Take Your Love Away". As I said before, John is not a bad singer. Not at all, and it's quite entertaining to hear his voice and good melodies. In fact, I think his vocal style is almost exactly the same as Steve Walsh's, only with the voice as a difference.

All the other tracks not mentioned are a little far from the original Kansas sound. They're not bad songs either really, but when Kansas is doing an album you expect some other stuff to be included.
