'The Services of Mary Goode' is Janison Edge's debut, although neither of the musicians are debuting, all are famous for their work within the progressive rock genre: Sue Element, Mike Varty, Ian Salomon, Dave Wagstaffe and Paul Brown. Sue and Mike wrote the music with Mike also producing the album and Sue writing all the lyrics. The album took two years (1996-1998) to complete. Progressive rock in a British manner is a reasonable categorization, and Janison Edge is comparable to other great bands like Landmarq and Arena.
Sue Element's voice is magnificent, a fresh addition, making the sound undeniably complete. Mike Varty's keyboards, with great solos and expressional layers, dominates the sound and adds texture. All musicians are extremely skilled.
The nine songs totaling 64 minutes features a repertoire of songs with catchy and beautiful melodies. The sometime symphonic tracks are produced with outmost expertise. The title track 'The Services of Mary Goode' is divided into four parts. There isn't a song that is better then the other, nor worse then the other, all has an innovative beautiful touch.
