CAFÉ CULTURE
Written by Greger Rönnqvist

Grass is an English group that released their debut CD "Café Culture at the start of 1997. They are playing pop music that sometimes is close to psychedelic and progressive rock.

Most of all they remind of pop music like Blur, Oasis and Pulp together with the band Nirvana. The flute makes you think of Jethro Tull. They have a great singer in Anthony Short whose vocals are a mix between Paul Weller and Curt Cobain.

The best tracks are "Skin Up", "The Age Of Change", "Café Noir", "Hello Hello", "Emanuelle", "Dollars and Pride" and "Happy".

As I'm a big Paul Weller fan, and Grass often reminds me of Paul Weller's solo works; I really like this album a lot. This isn't an album for the die-hard progressive rock listener, but for you who have an open mind for good music in other music genres.

Grass has now started recordings for the follow up CD "The Velvet Revolution".
