Genesis during their "pop-period". I know a greater part of the world prefer the times with Peter Gabriel, but I say that the later stuff is good too.
Personally I haven't really listened so much to the early era. On this album it's Phil Collins that's in the centre of the band. The songs are really
of the vocal-based kind...
What was that strange video I saw when I was a little kid. All these men (and superman) with big heads? Surrounded by this music from a great
song? It was nothing more than "Land Of Confusion". And did I know that it was actually Phil Collins who was the vocalist. He was more know
to me as some kind of popstar in my mothers world. Anyway, I bought the album and listened really only to that song for some years. When I
later became more aware of what I wanted to call music. I learned to enjoy the whole album. But "Land Of Confusion" is still the best. There are
two other fast songs, in the shape of "Invisible Touch" and "Anything She Does". Both these songs are really good, too.
It's obvious that Tony Banks is still there too show that Genesis is still a progressive band, with some long middle parts. This with varied
results, but in big I think this is a great album. It's just that if YOU shall think so, you must have the ability to appreciate some regular pop. And
that can be quite difficult...
