Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Ray Wilson. The three main lead
vocalists related to Genesis. The last mentioned is the one which is
currently a member of the band, if "band" is the right word. It's Tony
Banks and Mike Rutherford that write most of the songs. They are also
the only ones who are left from the original Genesis line-up. However,
this -97 release is the first move with Ray in the band.
The radio played title track is of course a good one. I really looked
forward to getting this album when I heard Ray singing this progrssive
stuff. I had heard heard him before with Stiltskin. What he did in that
band was singing on the edge of screaming. Power vocals with
personality. That is quite similar to what he does in Genesis too, even
though the music is not as rough. One could say that the raw guitars
that Stiltskin had, has been replaced by keyboards.
I'm sorry to say that I got a little disappointed when
I listened through the whole album. The three first tracks are really
good, or maybe the first four. Then you get this feeling of boredom, or
longing for something too happen. It never does. If you don't like Ray
Wilson at all, I don't think you've got anyhting to hope for with this
album. When I listen to Calling All Stations, I really only listen to
the vocals...But that's me!
