PLAYS BOB W. AND OTHER SELECTIONS
Written by Greger Rönnqvist

The Norwegian band Fig Leaf was started in 1990 under the name Fig Leaf Museum. This is their astounding debut CD. Their influences are Emerson Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Peter Hammill, Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson, Megadeth, Rolling Stones, Santana, The Who, Yes and Frank Zappa, and I think you can hear a little bit of all those artists in Fig Leaf's music.

They use a lot of interesting old instruments such as Rhodes electric piano and Leslie 760. On some tracks there is some distorted Hammond too, making them sound a little bit like Uriah Heep or Deep Purple.

They have used the space on this CD to the maximum with its 74 minutes, but it never gets boring. This is progressive Rock at it's best, and I think they are one of best bands from Norway today. Recommended!
