LIGHT WITHOUT HEAT
Written by Christian Axén

For some reason Germany produces a lot new young progressive bands, Dionysos is one of them. The band consists of five young talented guys, with musical skills that far exceeded my expectations. Although the musicians are good, the tracks on 'Light without Heat' seem to be missing something. The middle-parts are in general really good with nice bass and keys, and the progressive touch really shows off. The sound is though somewhat immature.

The CDs total playtime is 65 minutes and consists of 11 songs with a length between 1 to 10 minutes. All the music and lyrics is written by Dionysos and they are apparently influenced by Dream Theater. 'Disdain' is the best song on the CD, a composition where the Dream Theater influence is obvious. The other tracks lack innovative elements.

Taking the age of the members in consideration, this band has done a great job, all highly skilled. But, as said, something is missing. Luckily they will have the time to figure out what it is.
