PCB Design

Why bother about the PCB ?
A PCB is a very complex part and should be treated as one of the components in the design, it can make or brake a design. Below I will try to give some guidance on how to route the PCB.

The task of the PCB
The PCB has two main electrical tasks:
- To provide connectivity
- To route the currents in a desired way

Ground tree

Powering scheme - power amplifiers

Powering scheme - low level circuitry

General considerations
If you are into etching and such, DO NOT tin plate the whole surface of the copper foil after etching, the solderability will be much reduced. After etching, keep the photoresist on the board until you are ready to start mounting the components on the board.  With an absolute oxide free copper surface the solderability is a dream.  Do not underestimate this point because high-end gear are produced under well controled conditions to give the best possible result.  Believe me, you could probably turn an Audio Research to crap by just poor solderings.
