Nicolas Cage and Elisabeth Shue star
in
LEAVING LAS
VEGAS
a,powerful and disturbing story of
unconditional love set against the
backdrop of high-rollers and low-lifes
inhabiting the colorful world of Las
Vegas. From writer/director Mike
Figgis comes an uncompromising
story of two disenfranc hised souls
who connect for a moment in time.
An avowed alcoholic, Ben
(NICOLAS CAGE) drank away his
family, friends and, finally, his last
job. With deliberate resolve, he burns
the remnants of his life and heads for
Las Vegas to end it all in one final
binge.
On the Strip, he picks up a
street-smart hooker named Sera
(ELISABETH SHUE) in what might
have been another excess in his
self-destructive jag. Instead, their
chance meeting becomes a respite on
the road to oblivion as they form a
bond that is as mysterious as it is
immutable.
Mike Figgis directed LEAVING LAS
VEGAS from his own screenplay,
based on the semi-autobiographical
novel of the same name by John
O'Brien. Lila Cazes and Annie
Stewart are the producers, with Paige
Simpson and Stuart Regen serving as
executive producers. Julian Sands
also stars in the film, and there are
cameo appearances by such artists as
Richard Lewis, Steven Weber,
Valeria Golino, Laurie Metcalf, Lou
Rawls and Julian Len
