Kansas - Power

So, is this one of the worlds most underestimated albums? No matter what, I say that it's a damn good one. One of the two albums that include Steve Morse in the Kansas line-up, which really not is a negative thing, even if one can miss Kerry Livgren. Steve is of course nowadays most known as the guitarist of Deep Purple, but his past can tell us about a band called The Dixie Dregs (check out the reviews).

the introducing track "Silhouettes In Disguise" is a fast one that really show from the start that this album is gonna be a good listening experience. Followed by "Power", which is a rgular tempo thing with cool vocals. A Kansas tune to put it right. "Musicatto" is an instrumental piece, which really ain't the thing that Kansas usually does. I guess Steve Morse has something to do with it. I heard once from someone who said that this album wasn't good at all, just because it didn't show the talents of Morse, with an exception of "Musicatto". My comment on that, is that even if Steve Morse doesn't play his fastest scales or arpeggios on this album it's still a very good achievement for him. He has that ability to "know" what the guitar should do in a song. To follow the lead vocal in the right way and things like that.......

A good album, with some really Kansas sounding tunes. The only thing I miss with the Morse-era is Robby Steinhardt or David Ragsdale with the violin.
