"The Beach" - American (adventure)

The Beach is based at Alex Garlands book with the same title. With Lenonardo Di Capri as the main character it should be all right. Or should it? In the book the main character is a british man. But the creators had to make it a american instead to get more popularity and to get it out to the people in a better way. Who in the U.S would like to see a movie with a british man as the main character?
Anyway "Richard" (Leonardo Di Caprio) get a map to a secret island from a strange man and then ask to other backpakers to join him in the search for it. The way to the island is hard, but finally they find it, but there is so much more they find at that island.
I haven't read the book, but many says that the love story doesn't have such a big role in the book as in the movie, and I guess that's right. There is quite a big love story in "The Beach", but it's not too much, you can handle it, altough Leo is involved.

+ I like "The Beach", it's not too good, and it's not too bad either. The main highlights in the film is of course the wonderful landscape that you got to see. It's very nice, to dream about.
+ The music is very nice too, with not really being classic "soundtrack" like, more with diffrent types of music. Moby and All Saints are two off them, with both being very good in my opinion.
- I guess the bad thing is that you don't really get to know the characters that good.
- And that sometimes it's just so much Leonardo involved. With all that has to give.

Overall a quite O.K. movie.

"American Beauty" - American (drama)

The story is about a quite typical family that seems to have such a good life together, but under the surface there lies a lot of strange things. Kevin Spacey handles his character perfect. It took some time for me to grab this movie into my heart. Right after we walked out of the cinema I just didn't feel anything special. I just had this really nice feeling in my body. I couldn't pick out something that was good about the movie, and I co uldn't not pick out anything bad with it either. Maybe that's what makes this movie so special in a way. It's just plain good. One ting that touched me, was the very "good" end. It was filmed in a very special way, with only black/white. Also the scene were to of the characters meet, and find out that they love each other. It was filmed in a very beautiful way.
As said there is quite a bunch of nice and very cool scenes in American Beauty. Maybe one of the coolest is when Kevin Spacey is driving a long the road, high on grass, singing to the melody "american woman..."
The music is about ½ of the movie. Go see the movie, and you will soon find out why...

"The Cup" (Tibetan movie)

Plot
It's all about this monk that has soccer as one of his favorite hobbies and interest. Though he is a monk and have restrictions. The guys are playing whenever they get the chance. And when the World Cup final between France - Italy he just have to see it. It's a tough way to get money and allowences from their superior. Will they have all the things needed until midnight when the final is held?

Also this movie was at the Film Festival. So it's not that common at cinemas worldwide. But if you get the chance to see it. Do it. It's all worth it. This is a lovely little piece that every type of person will enjoy. Just to go to the cinema to hear another language that is not American, English or your home language, is a experience in it's self. The movie has some very nice landscape clips too, very diffrent from what you use to see. The actors are very good to handle their roles, they do it perfect. So. Want some unusual? Go and see "The Cup".

"But forever in my mind" (Italian movie)

Plot
The movie is basicly about these school students that makes revolution against their school. They want rights. The studets takes over the school and stays there for several days. And while they are doing that, you are following the diffrent charactes actions. How rumours are beeing spread. There is also some interesting fights with their parents. Typical teenager fights. You can really identify yourself with the characters in many ways. Of course the keyword is Love in this movie. Does he loves me? Does she loves me? The twists are here and there and you are not quite sure what's going to happen next time.

Opinions
This is one of few movies that has made me wanting more. While seeing the movie, I just didn't want it to stop. It was just such a great film. Maybe the ending isn't that good, and it's that that makes the drop from 5 to 4 in the rating. I saw this film at the film-festival here in Gothenburg. So it's not a famous movie or something. But if you have the opportunity to see it, then it will be forever in your mind.
