Hypocrisy was founded sometime back in 1990 by the musical genius Peter Tägtgren. In the beginning he had problems finding musicians good enough so he played all the instruments himself.

After some hard work he found a lineup that could do the job....Masse Broberg joined as a singer, Mikael Hedlund on bass, Lars Szöke on drums and Jonas Österberg on guitar.

 
They made some demos and were signed by Nuclear Blast.

Today they have released some real death metal masterpieces and have gotten a well deserved place in the history of great death metal bands.

The lineup has changed a bit...today it looks like this:

Lately the band has had some problems. Their latest album "The Final Chapter" was supposed to be their last album. A lot of people probably wonder why.

Well..the story goes like this...Hypocrisy IS Peter Tägtgren, no question about it, if he quits the whole band quits. So since he has been the only one contributing anything in the band lately he was pissed off....the other guys in the band weren't practicing enough on their instruments and weren't writing anything so it ended up with Peter doing everything.

This was the reason they were splitting up.

Luckily there was a turning point....Hypocrisy played at the Milwaukee Metal Fest and did some other shows in the U.S. and Mexico. These were the first shows in quite some time. And they felt a certain joy playing together again.

Recent news is that Peter has already started writing some new material for Hypocrisy...so if the other guys just can get on doing something maybe there is a future for the gods of death metal.
