In Sweden you can't get a drivers license until you're 18. But you can get a tractor license when you're 16, 15 if you are lucky enough to have special reasons. In the -70's some smart 15 year old kids discovered that there was a law from the 40´s that made it possible to build a tractor out of cars with a frame. The Volvo Duett has a frame and the rest is history...Since everything fun in Sweden has to be banned by the government they banned this in -74 but all that were already built could run until they were junked. How many do you think have been junked? Not many. In -82 Sweden had this really sympathetic guy on the DOT board who made it possible to build Hot Rods, buggies and, yes that's right A- tractors. Ulf Adelson, we love you. There ´s been a lot of as*"¤#%les trying to ban everything again but it hasn't happened yet. When you turn 18 you're supposed to deny that you ever had one. But I had fun so I'm not denying anything. Just leaving out some things until the statue of limitations runs out...(they are not supposed to go faster than 30km/h, 19mph).

This picture was taken the day before I turned 16. I built one already but this one took 1 year and 49 weeks to build. But in 3 weeks I drove 3000km, 1875 miles, without any troubles. Volvo 140 front axle with Opel rack and pinion steering Volvo 240 rear axle in 4 link was not usual.

When I look at these pictures I don't know if I should laugh or cry. If I would like it today you would have to shoot me! But the handling was good. As much handling as you need at 30km/h... Not many had a pro stock scoop out of sheet metal either.

The top was chopped 7,5cm, 3in. Front fenders were widened 10cm, 4in, each. I used front fenders as rear fenders. It didn't have a floor pan at all so it was "easy" to channel it 20 cm, 8in. Rear end is from an Amazon, with 7cm, 3in, higher fins.

It looks kind of tuff, it was 197cm, 77,5 wide. Head lights from a Saab. It's at the Elmia custom show -90 and it got 4th. But I drove it there and back, which no one else did.

The doll my buddy managed to get hold of, we dressed it up with my dads wedding suit. TSV on the suitcase means DOT. In the back it had a motive where it said, "outlaw" so I never lied. The papers in the doll's hand are from the dot inspection, they were very full...

This is one of 2 pictures I found of my Transit. The missing link in the front is my sister. It had a Volvo B18 engine, the back was made to fit a Euro pallet. Nothing to write home about but it was dependable.

I had to sell the Transit to get money for the purple one. So I had to have something to get around in and this was it. It was made in the 60´s and then it wasn't allowed to have suspension in the back. It was somewhat rusty so the whole cab moved sometimes and the door came open. It had a 4 banger but most of the time it only used 2. The dent is from when my rallycross car lost its brakes. It won Sweden's ugliest -89, since these tractors only exist in Sweden you are now looking at a world champion.
