The SETA Project
ShockEd Tutorial Archive

What is the SETA Project?

SETA is short for "ShockEd Tutorial Archive".
The title is kind of self explanatory: This is an archive (or technically a link-archive) that collects fanmade ShockEd tutorials from the Internet. Its goal is - given time - to merge these smaller versions into a One True Tutorial for ShockEd.

You see, once upon a time, there was no tutorial. Fans had to learn everything "the hard way", by experimenting and playing around with ShockEd. The TTLG Editors Guild was a place filled with voices of confusion, despair and cries for enlightenment.
Along came Totality. *Insert heroic music here.* Totality was the first fan to write down what he knew about ShockEd. His knowledge gave newcomers (mostly) a basic ground to stand upon. ...but his work was far from complete. Worn from cramps in his fingers (or some other reasons), he entrusted his work to the hands of us fans to continue upon. ...and, well, some soon did. However, noone has yet stepped forward to claim that he has officially updated Totalitys tutorial. Meanwhile the Editors Guild forum is still a place where many questions are asked what would be completely unneccesary if there only was a proper, complete ShockEd tutorial. Knowing this, I feel as if many attempts has been made, but that noone really has the energy (or the time) to spare to write down everything about ShockEd (which is by all means understandable).

I have been told that due to the similarity between ShockEd and is predecessor DromEd (for the Thief games), there is little need for extra tutorial files. I think this is wrong. ShockEd may still be based upon the same editor, but the game accessories (such as the Object Hierarchy and the scripts) is totally different. I therefore feel that there is a need for a ShockEd tutorial.

Still some (probably those who has been there since the great age of Totality) may be against this. Some claim that the best way to learn stuff is by the old, hard ways, and that all the help neccessary can be provided by other ShockEd:ers, typically at the TTLG forums.

To Be Continued...

If you have some Tutorial(s) in the workings (or are finished with it), I would like to have your permission to have it posted here. Please e-mail me, filling in the necessary data (where to get it, etc.).
