Make your own sensor and adapter cable

You can make your own sensor and adapter cable for the PalmPilot. What you need is an alarm sensor, a 2 wire cable and a female DB25 (RS232) connector. Connect the sensor to the PalmPilot using a Modem Cable. The Alarm sensor is a magnetic type normally used for windows. Use a Normally Connected (NC) Type.
This is how to connect the pins for the connecter cable
when using an Alarm Sensor Device

How to connect the pins for the connector cable when using
a Pilot Hotsync Cable (or the standard Cradle) and a CatEye Mity-2 Sensor

You will need a Male DB-9 Connector and a small printed circuit board
or something else that  will fit in the CatEye computer holder.

Other Sensors

The Cateye Mity 2 Sensor works quite simple, it's like a switch that closes every time the magnet passes the sensor, so any sensor that works like a switch should work. I now use the simple burglar alarm switch, it works fine.
I have also connected a Sigma RCS Wireless to the Pilot. And it works using the same connections as above. But my experiences with the Wireless was not so good, it seemed that I had problems adjusting the sensor. I lost contact several times, maybe someone else has better experiences with Sigmas.
But please be careful. Don't experiment unless you know what you are doing...
