Jesper Wihlborg - guitar
Jesper was born in 1970 in Tingsryd, 45 Km south of Växjö. He plays the guitar in Soulflyer. Over a period of ten years, before he formed the band together with the other three members, he used to play with several local bands. Jesper was also a member and the drummer of the heavy metal band called Epidemic from Växjö. They released an album called Futuredoom in 1989.
Jesper’s musical influences are primarily Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Other major influences are Angus Young, Billy Gibbons, Johnny Winter and last but not least BB King and Albert Collins. Bands like the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Muddy Waters, ZZ Top, Gary Moore and Jimmie Vaughan also serve as a big inspiration.
Jesper plays on a Fender Stratocaster (modified with guitar microphones from Helges Håla in Växjö) and an Ephiphone 335. He uses J M P Marshall amplifier on the album, but is currently using Peavey Classic together with a POD-pedal and an Ibanez tubescreamer.
