27 shows in Europe and 27 in
North America. This is one of my favorite tours. The first time I saw Bob Dylan live was this year in Stockholm (look at the setlist!). It's strange how little you really remember about a show. But I remember the feeling of a very good show. The unusual beginning with an acoustic She Belongs To Me (only performance during this tour) and The Times... was very exciting with an audience that was completely silent! I also remember a haunting Dead Man, Dead Man, Shot Of Love wasn't released so I didn't no the name then. Another great moment I can hear and see in my mind is a moment in Just Like A Woman where they turned on every red lights from the stage and lit up the audience while Bob was singing the bridge: "it was raining from the first, and..., a great moment! The official release from this tour is represented with Heart Of Mine on Biograph and Dead Man, Dead Man on the B side of Everything Is Broken maxi-single from 1989. Both songs taken from the first show in New Orleans, November 1981. The performance are very inspired both in the powerful and driving Dead Man and the gentle and sweet Heart Of Mine where Dylan sings with an unusual tremble at the end of each line. I really like the funky band Dylan played with from 1979-81. |
