DAWN

Under construction!

Sweden's DAWN were formed Autumn/Winter 1991. They recorded their first demo,'Demo 1', in the Winter of 1992. That cold December spawned the first official DAWN Demo entitled 'Apparition'. At this time, DAWN had a more straightforward Death Metal approach to thier music. The 'Apparition' Demo went on to sell over 200 copies and was re-released as a 7" EP by the small label, BELLPHEGOT RECORDS. The result was 'The Eternal Forest' 7" EP which further established the band as one to watch...

During the Fail of 1993, DAWN entered UNISOUND STUDIOS to record to showcase their new style. The result,'Promo '93' found it's way into the hands of NECROPOLIS RECORDS who signed the band immediately realizing DAWN's potential. In May 1994, DAWN entered UNISOUND STUDIOS once again where under the assistance of Dan Swano recorded their magnificent debut album, 'Nær Sòlen Gar Niþer For Evogher', simply translated as 'When the Sun sets forever'. The result was a 50 minute/8 track opus of dark atmospheric Forest Death/Black Metal. The music is beautifully serene at times, and powerfully hateful the next.

The record was received with brilliant praise, enough to evoke DISPLEASED RECORDS from Holland to offer NECROPOLIS a licensing deal for Europe. DAWN played some shows throughout 1995, and in the Winter, they entered the studio once more. This time, the diabolical darkness took place in ABYSS STUDIO where DAWN recorded a brand new three track Mini- CD. The release showcases the bands' new style, and also provides an excellent INFERNAL MAJESTY Cover.

Sweden's DAWN have finally finished work on their second full length opus entitled Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy). Strangely enough, this album does not contain any Ancient Swedish lyrics-a staple which the band was previously known for, but in fact contains only harsh lyrical slayings courtesy of Henke Forss and Co. The band worked on the album at the ABYSS Studio with new Drummer Morth pounding the skins. "Slaughtersun..." promises to be DAWN's finest work to date and a landmark slab of metal for 1997. It was recently mastered at Sweden's Cutting Room, and will be released later this year on Digipak/Gatefold LP and normal CD versions. The band are also currently working on a video which may appear on a 'Necropolis' Compilation Video very soon alongside many other of your favorite Necropolis Records artists...
