Saab's
special version of the 9-3 is called Viggen. Saab wanted to
build an exclusive car for the real enthusiasts and they wanted
it to have something from Saab history especially from the aircraft
history. So they named it Viggen after the typical Saab
JA 37 Viggen Swedish fighter's delta wings. The Viggen is only
going
to be built in 3000 ex per year from 1999 to 2002/2003.
The Viggen has a special chassis developed with the British
special team TWR.
The
exterior differences between a 9-3 and a 9-3 Viggen are that
the Viggen has a special |
color
and a large spoiler at the back and at the front and shields on the
side. Note
that the Viggen is also available not only in Lightning Blue but also
in Monte Carlo Yellow, Black, Steel Grey, Red, Silver. It has special
5 spoke 17 inch Alu-wheels, they have a dimension of 215-45. The Viggen
is a very special car, it has all the equipment that you can get in
a Saab plus an exclusive two color matching fulsport leather interior.
The Saab 9-3 Viggen is available both in 5-door, Coupe and convertible.
The 9-3 Viggen Convertible is the most expensive Saab so far. In its
first year in production the 9-3 VIggen had a High Out Put (HOT) 2.3L
Turbo engine delivering 225bhp that was increased to 230bhp in 2000
when the Viggen received the new 2.3L Turbo engine from the then newly
launched 9-5 Aero. The Saab 9-3 VIggen is built in Saabs factory in
the south of Finland that Same factory which Saab has used to produce
its very successful convertible since 1986.
Today the Viggen is only available in the USA and maybe some other
markets but in most of Europe including Sweden the Viggen is no longer
on sale. Instead Saab has a new Aero for these market with the same
body-kit as the Viggen, expect for the rear spoiler which differs..
