Saab 900 -second generation (1994-1998)
In 1994 it was timefor the first new Saab since 1985 to go on sale. the car was named Saab 900 just as its predesesor. The car used a modified opel Vectra chassis. This was also the first Saab with a 6cylinder engine. Thecars design was complatly new but you could still see all the cartatiristc Saab features.
Even if the new 900 was starting to be produced in 1993 as a 1994 mdoel Saab continued to produce and sell the old 900 convertible mostly because it sold so good in the states.
In the first years the 900 was avalble with three different engine raging from the 2.0i to the new V6. All the engines had 4valves per cylinder.

The car was of course front-wheel driven, and had either a 5speed manual gearbox or or an automatic. you can also order your new 900 with the a very special gearbox called the Sensonic. The Sonsonic came in 1995 but was only avavlible on the turbo model. it was acoss between a manual and an automatic gearbox. It used no clutc instade a computer took care of that. this way you needed nu cluctc it was just to switch gears with out ahve to work with you r foot. Of course the new Saab was one of the absolutly saftest cars you could buy at the time. The ocupants were sournded with safety features such as airbags and a very storng body the had been reeforced on many places.
The cars Cw value was 0,3. In 1995 the new 900 convertible came to raplce to old one - this led to the production stop of the old 900 convertible. New for this year was also another mdoel; the 900SE Turbo Coupé, thisc ar had a 3-door body.
In 1996 a new four chanel brakesystem arrived called
EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution). the system works so that the rear wheels dosenät brake more then the front-wheels when your travelingat a speed of over 50km/h, this system is bult toghter with the ABS. Another new feature was that old the models got revolution counter (Swedish:varvräknare) this had not been avalbile on the less expansive models before.
In 1998 the 900 was replaced by the 9-3.
