I have heard the name Vader for a very long time. And I could name-drop some of their songs. Of course I could, I am metal......Without even heard anything from this Polish death metal group....Strange? Well, Vader just havn´t interest me. Thats it. So I didn´t want to spend money on a band that doesn´t attract me.
So it was not a surprise that this album is awesome. And it is not a surprise for you, who heard Vader before. We all know what Vader stands for: Quality metal. Straight to Hell!!
I guess a longer review is just an overkill....Great is the word and thats enough.

VED BUENS ENDE
Written In Waters
A Norweigan Black Metal band with some well-known peoples. Vicotnic are one of them (Dødheimsgard). I dont know if this band excist nowadays, beacuase this was a very intresting music for in the middle of the 90´s. They dont play the ordinary Black Metal sound, that we are used to. No, the singer sings with a clean and strong voice and the music is dreamlike, and sometimes quite strange. But sometimes the speed away, and the grim voice appears. Those parts are no intresting at all. The slower parts are.
It´s well performed and well produced, and I wish that I would have the opportunety to hear them again some day.

I am not a big fan of this "Original Satanists". Actually, I have never heard a full length album from the evil boys. And I am not very intrested to explore them either. I dont know why, but the songs I have heard doesn´t impress me. Not at all.
I dont know if "Leave Me In Hell" is a real full length album. I found it very cheep somewhere.....And I dont think I have listened the whole album through jet, even if it was like 6-8 years ago I bought it.....I am not intrested in Venom. It is that simple.
I know they have meant alot to the metal scene, and specially the Black Metal scene, and thats nice, but I dont care.....
Ohh, the album! Well, I dont remember how it sounds.

Vintersorgs solo project (Vintersorg means Wintersorrow). His main band is Otyg (see review here). This one man band reminds me abit of Fenriz project Isengard. I can see many similarites: Clean, deep voice, catchy riffs and melodies, and songs about ancient things, snow, your native countryand so on. Well, you have heard it before.
Maybe it´s not original, but I think Vintersorg manage to do a nice album with a couple of nice songs. And that enough for me.

WITHIN TEMPTATION
Mother Earth
This is a totally new group for me, and I dont know exactly how this album came in my possession, cause I have never heard of the group name before......Anyway, this is for all the Gothic freaks out there (me included). People how listen to Tristania, Theatre of Tragedy etc. probably listen to Within Temptation.
The music is best described as soft, keyboard-based melodic goth. Yes, we have heard it before. But yet this is original. But I cant find what it is.....Maybe it is the female singers great voice (a very special voice), or the nice melodies. I dont know, but I do know that I like this album alot. It is beautiful and relaxing without getting too complicated. Straightforward soft gothic metal.....

Old-school, Swedish, Bay-Area influences, brutal.....Yeah! All elements for a Death Metal album are to be heard on Vomitorys new album. Nothing new at all (read the Forsaken review which looks the same like this). Vomitory grinds for 30 minutes without catching breath....Thats always great I think, but there are a little too much of this kind of music right now. I just hope that Nile will release a new album soon, so they can show the world how Death Metal should sound like....
But....always a but....Vomitory should have some credits for this: it's well
played, it's brutal, it's a nice album all-through, but I miss the unexpected
moves from the band, and thats the overall problem with most of toady's Death
Metal bands.
The only song thats sticks out from the rest is "Madness Prevails",
which is a nice break in the rapture....
Grind, blast-beats is great, but use it wisely.

Satyr from Satyricon´s solo project. This have nothing to do with Black Metal, or other metal, at all. This is a journey through some cold and icey landscapes. And with some keyboards and a little help from some professional musicans, Satyr manage to create a wonderfull piece of art. A dreamlike journey through the mind of a geniuos.....(couldn´t say it mush better)
