The YIMLUG awards

YIMLUG, the Yorkshiremen In Malmö Linux User Group, was formed in 1895 by Maurice Flintlock ONS.

Mr. Flintlock was deeply troubled that the young discipline of web design was by and large ignorant of the aesthetic qualities of the penguin, and so instigated this much coveted award to promote the use of penguin imagery across the web. The first winner of the YIMLUG award, Titus Cropknacker, received the grand sum of 3 shillings and tuppence ha'penny, an orange,  and a stuffed and mounted family of King Emperor penguins.

Today, a recipient of a YIMLUG "webbie" goes home from the no expense spared award ceremony some 15 pounds richer, a far cry indeed from the days of Cropknacker, who received his modest prize in the relative comfort of his front room!!!

Winners are nowadays also inducted into the YIMLUG hall of fame, and as a special bonus become the proud wearers of an exclusive YIMLUG tie and handkerchief set, hand crafted in finest polyester and cotton.

Since it's humble beginnings, the name of YIMLUG has been carried far and wide across the web, and any aspiring webmaster would be honoured to include a YIMLUG "webbie" on his cyber-CV!
