| Some time in early 2004 the
BBC World computer show "Click Online" aired an interview with a
representative from Apple, who dismissed the Linux challenge on the
grounds that Linux had no Office Suite, which is, of course, utter
nonsense. Incensed, I quickly fired off an angry and yet witty rebuttal to these outrageous claims, and having vented, and therefore feeling slightly better, quickly forgot about the matter. Imagine my surprise some time later when watching "Click Online" to find my missive read out by Stephen "..and my name..(15 second pause)..is Stephen..(10 second pause)..Cole" Cole himself, complete with cut aways to show SC's mock shock horror surprise at the tone of my mail, which suggested that Mr. Apple person was a natural comedian, and if he wasn't doing stand up ought to at least give the matter some serious consideration. My surprise and happiness at my 5 minutes (if that) of fame quickly turned to misery when it suddenly dawned on me that I was probably the only person who knows me who was watching "Click Online" at the time. Thankfully I later discovered that they keep a full archive of all previous shows on their web site, so my brief spot in the limelight is now yours too to enjoy thanks to the miracle of the ksnapshot screen capture utility....(I'm the one at the bottom btw...) ![]() |
