Massachusetts 54th
Volunteer Infantry Regiment

This is a report about the Massachusetts 54th Volunteer Infantry Regiment that I did for my
history class a while ago. They were one of the first regiments with African-Americans during the
American Civil War. A movie has also been made about this regiments attack on Fort Wagner
and it is called "Glory". It is based upon the book "One Gallant Rush", it stars among others:
Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman. The movie won 3 Oscar awards.

I wish to make it clear that I am no expert in this field. This is just
something I put together because I thought that this regiment is an
interesting and important part of the history of the United States.
My apologies for any inaccuracy that may occur on this site.

I hope that you will find this subject as interesting
as I did when I first started to read about them.
