Sturm Graz had 3 points deducted for irregularities in license application prior to the season, and 10 more points on Mar 26 for going into insolvency during the 2006/07-season.

NOTES

* 1924/25 was the first professional championship. * FK Austria Wien were called SV Amateure Wien before the 1926/27 season. The club changed name in midseason 1925/26-1926/27. Also, for a brief period, April- July 1938, they were called SC Ostmark (not to be confused with FC Ostmark!). * FC Wien were called SC Nicholson Wien up to and including the 1930/31 season. * SV Amateure Fiat were called SC Austro-Fiat Wien before June 1938. The club went up into FAC Wien after the 1939/40 season and thus ceased to be. * Reichsbahn-Wacker Wiener-Neustadt were called ESV Wacker Wiener- Neustadt before June 1938. * 1938-45 was Austria part of Germany. This meant that the winner of the Austrian league played for the German championship. * SK Sturm Graz withdrew in February 1942 with a record of 3 wins, 7 losses, 10 goals scored, 40 conceded and 6 points; their results were annulled but Sturm were allowed to keep their place at the highest level. * SK Amateure Steyr withdrew on April 20, 1944, with a record of 5 Losses, 6 goals scored, 27 conceded and no points; their matches were annulled. * At the end of the 1943/44 season, LSV Markersdorf/Pielach withdrew (after having played the championship through), which enabled Wiener Sport-Club to keep their place for the following season. * 1945-1948/49 the league was again restricted to clubs from the Wiener Liga. * ESV Ostbahn XI Wien have also played under the name SG Reichsbahn Wien. * 1965/66 FK Austria Wien and 1. FC Schwechater begun a temporary partnership after the season, in effect during the 1966/67 championship. However, this is not counted as a merger creating a new club in my table because the new club still had the name FK Austria Wien. In my opinion 1. FC Schwechater temporarily went up into FK Austria Wien, thereby it is not a new club as such. I will use the same Line of thinking when it comes to the matter of the so- called spielgemeinschafts, only when no new team name is adopted though. See below. * Wacker Innsbruck and SV Wattens formed a spielgemeinschaft at the end of the 1970/71 season and the latter ceased to exist. How long this spielgemeinschaft actually lasted is unknown to the author. * Admira Wien did also play under the name Admira Energie. * Donawitzer SV Alpine Leoben have also played under the name Werks SV Alpine Leoben Donawitz. The present club Donawitzer SV Leoben is a merger between the above-mentioned club and FC Leoben done in 1992. * SV Stickstoff Linz ceased to be in 1973 as they went up in V;Ouml;EST Linz. This is according to Karel Stokkermans. However, according to Hans-Gerd Heuser SV Stickstoff Linz went out of existence in 1969 because of bankruptcy. * FK Austria Wien and Wiener AC formed a spielgemeinschaft that started when the 1973/74 season begun. This spielgemeinschaft lasted up to (and including) the 1977/78 season. The new club changed name to FK Austria/WAC and are thus counted as a separate club in the table above, even though this is not done officially (for example this club won the championship 1976 & 1978 and those titles are counted on FK Austria Wien officially). But, in my opinion, as I said before, spielgemeinschaft that adopts a different name than any of the merging clubs is considered a different club than any of the clubs forming the spielgemeinschaft. Had said spielgemeinschaft adopted the name FK Austria or Wiener AC then that would have been a different story, but now the club name were FK Austria/WAC. * WSG Radenthein and 3rd level outfit Villacher SV formed a spielgemeinschaft creating the new club Radenthein/Villacher SV when 1973/74 season started. This new club is counted separately in the table above. * Newly promoted Rätia Bludenz and newly relegated Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz formed a spielgemeinschaft called FC Voralberg before the 1973/74 season started. Subsequently this spielgemeinschaft was dissolved. * FC Wacker Innsbruck (new) previously FC Wacker-Tirol. * VfB Mödling have also played under the name VfB Union Mödling. * FC Linz did also played under the names VÖEST Linz, VOEST Linz, and Stahl Linz, respectively. * SC Niederösterreich FC Admira Wacker did also play under the name FC Admira Wacker. * FC Linz were overtaken by Linzer ASK in 1997. The club adopted the name Linzer ASK and is therefore not counted as a new team. * FC Red Bull Salzburg previously Austria Salzburg. Originally a merger of Hertha Salzburg and Rapid Salzburg. * SK Austria Kärnten (Klagenfurt) previously FC Superfund Pasching and ASKÖ Pasching; respectively.
