Generally about mounting
All materials used for mounting and situated near
the compass must be nonmagnetic
or the function of the compass will be disturbed.
You can check if something, e g a screw, is
nonmagnetic by nearing it
to the compass and also moving it sideways along
the face of the cupola.
If the reading of the compass doesn't change it
is nonmagnetic.
Compasses disturb each other if they are placed
too close.
The compass housing consists of two cupola
which must be free to
move with respect to each other, to
compensate for temperature differences.
Make sure you are not restricting this movement
the way you mount the compass.
Specific
The 100P, 103P, 103PE compasses are intended for
bulkhead mounting. With
additions, see notes in table on price specifications
and how to select page, they can become a
quite nice free standing
compasses.
The 1000 model can be bulkhead
mounted but also comes with
a rear cover and therefore also makes a nice
free standing compass.
They Ansar 2 and 4 compasses shall be mounted
with the flange vertical.

All compasses has a screw, or a
hole for a screw,
in each corner which can be used for mounting
e.g. to a aluminum extrusion,
with L-section, at the lower or upper edge.
The L-section can then be attached to e.g. the
cabin roof permanently
or in a way that it can be removed when not
used.
Or it can be hung from the rear part of the
cabin ceiling.
A piece of L-section is available as an
accessory, see price
specifications and how to select.
For, maybe less permanent use, the compass can
be mounted on a piece
of wooden plate which is strapped to the cabin
roof. Put rubber strips
under the plate as it musts not turn on its
surface while in use, or you
will get wrong indications.
If the action around the compasses with movable
makers may unintentionally
move these markers you can mount a circular protective
transparent strip
a couple of centimeters, half inch, from the
copula. For price see: price
specifications
and how to select.
Silva's has a mast bracket (see Silva's
site) for Silva 100P, 103P, 103PE
compasses. I guess, but don't know,
that it can be used also for 1000 and 100B/H
compasses with smaller modifications
to the mounting holes in the compass bracket.

specifications and how to select
