The compass has two dials, a green for starboard tack and a red for port tack.
It has two lubber lines for each tack, for two different tacking angles: light wind and moderate wind.
Ansar 3 compass shows True wind direction with a 0-360 degrees dial

This design was initiated by a customer, sailing Laser dinghy, who wanted this indication so he can refer the wind direction directly to the standard compass rose.

Stand inside 120 km/h wing skate sail

The world's fastest skate sail, 120 km/h (75 MPH) is another of my top performance designs.

The first compass I made of this type is adopted to be read from the windward side and around 10 to 50 degrees from the center line of the boat. Typical angles in a Laser dinghy.

It can be made for other angles.

With this compass you note the extrem oscillations of the direction of the wind, when sailing to windward, e g 45 and 68 degrees. Zero lift will then be between these values.
