Because the breed name Ca de Bou is the Catalan name for the breed as spoken on Mallorca and Perro dogo Mallorquin

is the Castellan name for the breed as spoken on the peninsula.

Q. What size is the Ca de Bou?
A.

Males have a height at the withers of about 55-60cm and bitches of around 52-56 cm.
Males weigh from 35 to 45- 50 kg and bitches from 30 to 42 kg.

Q. What is the Ca de Bou like?
A. It is a medium sized breed. it is very healthy, agile, quick-thinking, and an excellent guard dog.
Q. Are they good family dogs
A.

Yes, they love their family and are very dedicated to them. The Ca de Bou should be brought up around
people from puppyhood so as it is correctly socialized. Together with its master the breed is quiet by nature,
but easily excitable, demonstrating great courage. The Ca de Bou is sociable with humans except for those
dogs trained for guard and defence work where they prove to be an excellent guard. When left alone the Ca de Bou
is an unsurpassable guardian, an excellent guard-dog. When guarding the Ca de Bou will show restraint and calmness.
The breed has the quiet, balanced temperament of the bulldog and is self assured. The Ca de Bou has a very strong
state of mind and easily adapts to any circumstances. The Ca de Bou does not have to be taught to defend.

Q. How do they get on with other dogs?

The Ca de Bou gets on alright with other dogs. They tolerate other dogs and normally get on well with them.
The breed has shown a pronounced agressive instinct to members of the same sex within the breed, espescially
the males.

Yes, The Ca de Bou is a very athletic breed, able to run very fast, jump high and swim. They are an active to very
active breed, requiring a great deal of exercise. The Ca de Bou has a lot of stamina, the wide, deep chest allowing
the heart and lungs lots of space, the powerful bone, making the breed very solid and with the powerful legs allowing
the dog to keep on going for a very long time. The breed's stamina and elasticity allow it to easily overcome obstacles.

A high quality feed is recommended for this breed. Very active dogs should be fed a feed suitable for the individual's
requirements.
