 Ensemble Nimbus history in brief: The group was formed in late 1992 by Håkan Almkvist and Hasse Bruniusson, and appeared on one compilation CD released 1993 in USA on FOT RECORDS together with artists like Pere Ubu, Daevid Allen, Henry Kaiser, Arthur Brown, Peter Blegvad, Ron Geesin and many others. That year the band grows up to five members including Lars Björk, Kirk Chilton, Stefan Carlsson, and works in the studio, recording "Key Figures" released on the Swedish APM label in 1994. During the following year live performances are made at various places in Sweden only. In 1995 a show is put together with a dancer and a painter, with new arrangements on the material from the Key Figures CD. (Available on Videocassette TAP/RHV-1) A short tour to France is also made this year. In 1996 Briskeby Records in Norway are releasing one live track from this show on a compilation CD of Scandinavian Progressive Rock called "Revenge of the Orange". Except gigs in Sweden, a short tour goes to Poland. Plenty of time is spent in the studio, recording new material for the second CD Scapegoat. This time putting more focus on improvisation, and invited guests frequently appears in the studio. Keyboard player Stefan Carlsson leaves the group during this year. Due to financial problems with APM-label, no CD release is possible. After more than one and a half years of waiting, the record contracts on two releases for APM-label are finally disbanded. During this period there is no live performances made and all time available is devoted to the recording studio, exploring new technical devices. Also recording facilities are improved. Thanks to a co-operation between the Swedish Record Heaven-label and TAP, a release of the "SCAPEGOAT" CD TAP/RHCD12 was possible in the end of 1998. During the year of 1999 recording facilities was further improved and all time dedicated to the work with the third CD release titled "GARMONBOZIA" TAP/RHCD25 which was released in early spring year 2000. |
