"Born 1961, ranks among the leading personalities of Czech jazz music. He is a musician abounding in enormous energy and extensive repertoire. He is also a successful composer. The biggest influence on his style had Jaco Pastorius and the life itself.
PAVEL, J. RYBA, began his career with the best and most famous jazz-rock group of that time - JAZZ Q MARTIN KRATOCHVÍL + JANA KOUBKOVÁ.
This first experience was followed by further collaboration with not only jazz groups, but also rock groups.
Owing to this specialization (fretlees bass) he became a much asked musician in the sphere (H. ZAGOROVÁ; P BOBEK; I. BARTOSOVÁ, M. a T. ELEFTERIADU....).
In 1991 he founded his own group MIND THE STEP. In the cooperation with the firm BONTON MUSIC they issued a solo album "CD" - MIND THE STEP. The most prestigious Czech musicians (P. MALÁSEK, P. VENKRBEC, J. HLAVA, Z. CH. BLAZEK - Radio big bang Prag) participated in this project, in 1993. P. J. RYBA became a cofounder of the super trio PLESK in which the best Czech jazz-singer J. KOUBKOVÁ and Z. S. DVORÁK (guitar) participate. With this formations he also realized a number of tours of Europe - jazz festivals and jazz clubs.
