Mark il poliziotto
British videocover for Mark il poliziotto
An olive Alfa with "Polizia" in white block letters on its sides, on three wheels with its sirens blaring; The tearfilled eyes of Franco Nero when his daughter/son has been killed/kidnapped; Masked hoodlums with machine guns holding up a bank and shooting the clerk who tried to reach the alarm button - These are some of the reoccurring images in the Poliziottesco. Among the most important directors are Stelvio Massi, Enzo G. Castellari and Umberto Lenzi, but we must not forget Fernando Di Leo and Bruno Corbucci. Some of the great faces that grace these films belong to (the aforementioned) Franco Nero, Tomas Milian, Maurizio Merli, Henry Silva, Claudio Cassinelli and Antonio Sabáto and as an extra bonus we some times get to see John Steiner, Mario Adorf, Philippe Leroy or John Saxon. Finally many good scores were made by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis but it is the ones provided by Stelvio Cipriani that set that special poliziottesco mode.
