The Hellacopters

Kenny, Nicke, Robban and Dregen had been friends for a long time and played in several different bands before they started THE HELLACOPTERS in November '94.All members are despite their age (born circa '73) by no means musical beginners and what more: they do not play skate- punk. In fact, their common love and taste for 60s/70s bands like MC5, The Stooges, Heartbreakers, Motörhead & Kiss, and 80s/90s outfits such as the New Christs, Social Distortion, Supersuckers, Teengenerate, New Bomb Turks & Rocket From the Crypt only set the standards for what is to be expected from these guys.
It didn't take long before THE HELLACOPTERS' first 7" ep was released. "Killing Alan" was recorded on a four-track during a rehearsal and released in February '95 on Nicke's own label Psych Out Records. Raw, loud and rockin' killer punk - the "lack" of slick production could not hide a strong talent for songwriting. Quality proved by the following 7" ep "1995" (Freak Scene, Dec '95). THE HELLACOPTERS simply wiped the floor with every other kind of punk/rock'n'roll band around. Who would have thought that the need and demand for crucial obnoxious punk rock'n'roll was so huge? The first pressings sold out within a few months. And, besides a united fanzine press army, THE HELLACOPTERS caught attention in other Swedish media such as the national news- and evening papers and TV. (Yeah, it is scary).
American magazines like Flipside and Maximum Rock'n'Roll received THE HELLACOPTERS with only great reviews.Martin McMartin (Flipside): "...loads of wah-wah and screamin' garage rock'n'roll ... way pissed-off and reckless, stoogey without sounding worn-out, maybe even a speedy "Love It To Death" - era Alice Cooper feel. B-side has two more killers; "Tilt City" is five times faster and recalled Motorcycle Boy at their prime but way punkier, and "Freespeedin" is like a garage-y Motörhead meets the Limespiders. Fuck, what don't these guys do!?! I'm thoroughly blown away and impressed." THE HELLACOPTERS just don't seem to be able to write a bad song and their high- energy live performances are first class. They are off and on into heavy touring; during the autumn of '96 they toured Sweden with US legends THE DICTATORS. It is not an understatement to say that THE HELLACOPTERS are the best fuckin' rock'n'roll band in Sweden. Respect The Rock or go home.

Backyard Babies

The band were formed by four guys in 1987, at a high school in Nässjö. Today it´s still the same four guys. When they started they played glamrock with a attitude that reminded much of the late 70's punkbands. They played around their hometown of Nässjö in south of Sweden. Released an album in 1989, followed by some demos. In 1991 they got discovered by MTV and got played on Headbangers Ball. In the summer of that same year they did a apperence at Swedens biggest festival Hultsfred, playing in front of a huge crowd. But it wasn´t until 1994, when they released their first CD, that things started to happened for the four guys. Learn more of each member below... More facts about the band...
