Youth
Cheryl Jean Stoppelmoore was born in Huron, South Dakota 1951. Her father a railroad man and her mother a homemaker - Cheryl knew, even as a little girl, that she wanted to be an actress. She performed in elementary school productions every chance afforded her, and in high school she was a cheerleader. When she was at high school she started singing in a
band called The Music Shop Band. When they had graduated they decided to go to Hollywood.
Early Career
But it didn't take very long until the band broke up and the members went different ways. Cheryl decided to stay in LA
and her break came as a singer in the cartoon-series Josie and the Pussycats. She also made a lot of commercials and
starred in some movies but she never got a big role in a movie. But her big break came when she got the oppurtunity to
starr in Charlie's Angels 1977.
The time as an angel
When Farrah Fawcett the show after only one season and the producers searched for a replacement they found Cheryl
Ladd. Cheryl starred in the show for four seasons. In my opinion was she the only of "replacement angels" who was as
good as the "original angels". She played the role as Kris Munroe and during her first two years in the show was it one of
the shows which had the highest ratings in the 70's. But the last two seasons was a big dissapointment but I don't think
you can blaim Cheryl for that.
Late Career
Cheryl made a lot of movies during the 80's but she didn't have any real success (at least not as big as Charlie's Angels).
Some examples of movies she played in was Blugrass and The Grace Kelly Story. In 1993 she starred in the "cult" movie
Poison Ivy and she also got a role in One West Waikiki 1994. She has also written some books for children together
with her husband Brian Russel.
Music Career
It was the Music which brought her to Hollywood and during her time as an actress she has also made some albums. The
two first, Cheryl Ladd and Dance Forever made big success in Japan. She has also made some more albums later, but
none of them have had the same success. She has made all her albums together with Capitol Records.
Private Life
Cheryl has two daughters, Jordan who has just finished three films and Lindsay who recently finished a
small part in a Lifetime film. Today she lives with her current
husband Brian Russel.
