Dear all,
I hope you haven't been worried by the lack of news you heard we were on
our way in to hospital. We have been busy!
I am not going to describe every detail now as I just rushed home to
collect a couple of things to take back with me to the hospital. Elisabet
can give the inside story later.
We have a healthy son! Junior (not named yet) was born 4.1kilos and 56cms
long. For those of you don't know - this is not a small baby. The standard
romper suit provided by the hospital is size 50cms.
Most of the labour went well but in the end junior needed to be helped out
in rather a hurry by a doctor with a suction cup. Elisabet managed with
great courage to push junior out having been told after three pushes that
she had one more try before they did an acute ceasarean. By that time she
was under a lot of pressure and things were happening fast. The last 10% of
the process felt like 90% of the effort.
I helped where I could but it wasn't much more than passing the gas and
telling Elisabet that she is my hero. As a result of the rather dramatic
birth Elisabet needed stitches so she is feeling very tender. The three of
us will take a few days resting at the hospital. We have a phone line so I
expect you will get a call soon.
Love from Kim, Elisabet and junior
