Some Believe

What can we do but believe?
We must all trust in something
Some search for love
Some for God
Some find the truth within themselves
or their pod

Some believe in a condemning father
and confessing your sins to your holy brother
Some believe in providence and fate
and purification after it’s too late

Some believe in original sin
an eternal evil here within
and when the bells in church they chime
the chaste rejoice ’til the end of time
I call it hypocrisy
Yes, I call it hypocrisy

Some read the good Samaritan day after day
but when he’s lying wounded they still look away
Some don’t listen to the Son of Man
they grow megalomania as well as they can

What can we do but believe?
We must all trust in something
Some search for love
Some for God
Some find the truth within themselves
or their pod

Some believe in consciousness, for what it’s worth
And to be happy here on earth
Some believe in the eternal Mother
As long as you don’t harm anyone she doesn’t bother

Some believe in their own creations
and their own emancipations
Some believe there exists no sin
come on now let the fun begin

Some learn knowledge from an Indian master
and some learn to lose their money much faster
Some believe in magic by lighting a candle
and some desire power they just can't handle
I call it ever searching
Yes, I call it searching

Some feel secure with ancient divinities
and some are aware of boundless infinities
Some believe that we must drop the knife
’Cause loving your neighbour is the meaning of life

What can we do but believe?
We must all trust in something
Some search for love
Some for God
Some find the truth within themselves
or their pod

I believe that we all need to find
the answer to the questions that trouble our mind
And before we know it we feel blind
Why? is the question that we put behind

How can we live on if no children are made?
Who wants to be old when our beauty fade?
Is a housewife better than her servant maid?
How can we be good when we’re fighting with blades?

How will we know whom to abandon or aid?
How will we know what to take in trade?
How will we know when the puzzle is laid
and how will we know when the price is paid

I don’t want to end this with a question mark
And I don’t want you walking with doubts in the dark
I have no idea what your aim might be
but I can tell you that it is love for me

And I want it everlasting
I’d like it indeciduous.
