SOLOS.

WINO BOB: The song 'Wino Bob' was written in my mom's walk-in closet!! Aside from the obvious reasons a guy likes to hang out in his mom's closet, I had set up my Tascam Porta-studio in there. In the spring of 1992 I entered the "Guitar heroes of Sweden"-contest (this was back in the days when trying to master your instrument was actually considered a good thing...) and the finalists recorded a CD together. The album is "Guitar heroes of Sweden pt.2", and was released on G.H.O.S.T Records. I really hadn't counted on making it to the finals or recording a CD, so I pulled out the porta-demo of 'Wino Bob' in pure desperation and called my good friend - and amazing drummer - Björn Fryklund. He liked the idea and contacted the equally talented bass player Stefan Deland. They got a tape each, and we met one afternoon to jam. Despite the limited time we had to rehearse, the result wasn't bad at all - a cute little pop-tune perhaps a little misplaced on a "check out my chops-album". The song was recorded at RFM-Studios in Karlstad, the engineer was Jonas Ogelid and, if I remember it right, I played through his rig - a Marshall preamp/poweramp through a Mesa/Boogie 2x12. I don't know what effects we used, but it sounds good to me. As always, I played my beloved Ibanez RG570.
071: In the fall of 1994, I moved from
Filipstad till
Stockholm. After a couple of months I got a call from my old band "Poseidon".
They told me they were gonna take part in recording a compilation CD
featuring bands from the region, and wanted me to come and record a solo for
their song. Since we weren't going to get a chance to rehearse, they sent me
a tape so I could come up with something in
Stockholm. The funny thing about the solo was that - lazy bastard as I am -
I kind of blew it off and didn't really work on it 'til the bus ride home,
where I wrote the ideas down on little pieces of paper... Once again, we recorded at RFM-Studios, which is a magnificent studio with a great staff (hi Christian, Jonas and Johan..). This time I borrowed a beautiful Mesa Boogie Rectifier top and a 4x12. The guitar was my Ibanez, and I used my noisy but sweet-sounding Ibanez wah. (Can't believe I sold the f¤*§r?!)
