German standard tactics

German units are, as you surely must have noticed by now, superior the Allied units in almost every aspect of the game.Yes, maybe there are Allied units that can match up to the "equals" on the German side, but overall its easier to be German.

The infantry units have very good AT-capacity. I mean a battle is never lost if you got some spare fausts in your unused squads ey? It doesn't matter if the Allies got 2 or more tanks left, you can  with a bit luck, and a skill of course ;), knock them out with a couple of panzerfausts.

As for the German armor there are even more difference in performance. German armor is thicker and their guns are bigger, as it says in the CloseCombat 2 manual "If you are fighting as the Allies, use either flanking tactics or numerical superiority". I think that says it all, maybe if your lucky or very skilled you can beat 2 or more German tanks with one Allied tank, but thats only in your dreams if you're not experienced or know your map like a glove.

How should you defeat the Germans then?
Well there is one thing that immediatly come into my mind, and thats the infantry AT-capacity. Never drive your tank to close of suspected areas where German AT-cpacity units can be. That is not nearer then 100 meter for ordinary inf, and 125 meter for the terrible panzerschreck teams. The range of those schrecks are scary for any Allied commander. In any case not closer then 125 meter then, ok? Try to get your infantry units to sweep those areas first. Just get close and then let them observe, recon infantry are great at this but I use all the "lighter" and cheap ones I got. Maybe a Ad Hoc rifle team or why not a couple of snipers. Observe and sneak, observe again and then move up to the suspected location. I would prefer some suppression fire here if at hands, maybe a mortar team or if in Los a MG preferably on a vehicle of some kind (tank or whatever). Some players will tell you not to use your ammo on things you can't see, but I do think my own men need some cover fire as I they would in real life. I like those guys you know ;). And if you use suppression fire chances are the rec. teams will survive and then you could use them for other purposes.

Many new players tend to move their armor in front and thats a real big sin if you're playing the Allied side. Well thats of course in a general point of view, there is always a scenario or BattleMaker-made map you should think otherwise. This is just my overall tactic.

SS-units
SS-troops always seems to obey your orders. In my experience all SS-units are the kings of the battlefield, in any situation the obey your orders, well almost anyway. You can rely on them more then any type of units in the game. Yes they are expensive, but I believe they are worth every point. I will at all times buy a SS-aufklarer before one army schutzen team.

FJ-units then?
Well they are as great as SS-units when it comes to infantry combat , the both got those StG 44 guns, but are not as skilled as the SS when it armor is involved, I think thats the only reason why I prefer SS before FJ-units (we are talking inf here)
