The summer of 1998
On our way to Lugnvik, the first day of our vacation. We have luck with the weather, there's no rain.
This is how the bike (Honda VFR 800 FI) looks like fitted with 130 Litres of luggage for our vacation trip.
The latest and tallest bridge in Sweden (at least it was 1998) the Högakusten Bridge.
Yet a picture of the same bridge.
Eva fishing in Northern Norway of the coast of Skutvik.
Warm weather and sun was something we lacked in the summer of '98 in Sweden but way up north in Norway there was more of that, so you take every chance you get.
Eva enjoying the calm and beautiful surroundings.
Looks like Eva want to declare this island hers!
As mentioned earlier we didn't see much of the sun this summer of '98 so when we did, we made the most of it.
Me and my grandfather (on my mothers side) pausing for a while in the nice weather during a berry picking trip.
I steering the boat on a fishing trip. We got lots of cod ( we call the fish "torsk" in Swedish) that day.
A view from the boat towards land and the mountain tip in the middle is called "Mammary piggen" but it has other names too due to its shape. I don't think I have to mention it I'll leave that to your imagination.
Eva on the beach. There are white beaches this far up north of the Polar Circle! Look for yourself.
I just love this nature! Here I am dreaming away.
This is as dark as it get in the northern parts of Norway during the Summer (June, July and August). This picture was taken about 01:00 AM
The clouds become very beautiful at night when the sun is so low that the light hits the clouds from below.
To me this is breath taking but it is hard to capture the greatness in a single picture.
Yet another picture taken at night when the sun never goes down, just hides behind the mountains for an hour. This is my grandmother (mother's mom) and her cat Pussur. This cat is served only the best! It often gets better food than we humans do!
Eva and grandmother at the kitchen table.
This is a view from the window of my grandmothers cabin where we always live when we visit them in the north of Norway. It is a beautiful view to wake up to.
The landscape in Norway is very dramatic. There are few flat spaces and the few that exist are often used for agriculture. I'm just as fascinated every time I go there.
On our way south we pass the Polar Circle. Here we document the moment by taking this picture of Eva and my Honda VFR.
Clear evidence! I was there. We still have roughly 1000 KM to our home.
My Dad and his wife Elona.
The Dahl family in Lugnvik, Sweden. From the left: Dad, Daniel, Jan-Erik, Elona and Christina.
My brother Daniel is testing how it feels to sit on my bike.
We had some friends visit us on Gotland (a Swedish island in the Baltic Sea) From the left: Anders, Eva, Björn, Anita and Åsa.
