>Choose traffic jams and stained concrete.
Or clean air and tree-lined avenues

These days, most people think you have to work in a city, if you want an important job.

GCHQ offers you a smarter alternative.

Leisurely avenues instead of dual carriageways. Regency splendour instead of ageing skyscrapers. And the unpolluted air that's been drawing the famous and fashionable to the area for the last 200 years. Just consider:

>International festivals
The town holds more festivals than anywhere else in Britain. There's the Cheltenham Festival of Music, Speech and Drama - offering dancers, choirs bands and soloists. The annual Festival of Literature - attracting visitors and speakers from across Europe. Our annual cricket festival. And the Cheltenham Gold Cup - to name but a few.

>Leisure
As well as one of the most prestigious race courses in the country, you have access to some of the most varied and scenic woodland and valleys including the Cotswold Way and the Royal Forest of Dean. Theatres range from the Victorian splendour of the Everyman's 660 seat auditorium, to the Playhouse - which started life as a spa bathhouse - to The Young Arts Centre and the Cheltenham Fringe Theatre. The area offers a wide range of leisure activities and numerous cinemas - not to mention the street entertainments, bands, children's events, pubs, clubs, restaurants and outdoor cafes on offer.

>History
From the 18th Century the rich and famous were attracted to the local spas. The town grew rapidly in the 1820s and 30s - soon becoming the biggest and most complete Regency town in the country. Wisely, Cheltenham opted out of the 60s building boom. So you can enjoy the grace and grandeur of fabulous architecture and beautiful parks.
