 The Enterprise was Chekovs first ship-assignment where he served as Navigation and Weapons officer.
He was captured and tortured by Kahn Noonien Singh but he was rescued by Kirk.

Chekov was re-assigned to covert operations after Kirks second transfer to StarFleet HQ.

 Chekov was also present on Enterprise NCC-1701-B maiden voyage when Kirk disappeared.

 Has a burning hate against Klingon.
