Who I am, and related topics:
 
        My name is Majid Obaid.  I was born on the 15th of may in 1953.  That  makes me 44 years, or 16405 days old right now ( 5th april 98).

         I'm working as a Systems Developer at the IT- Department of National Land Survey of Sweden.  There is a kind of order in the chaos on my desk at job and at home; everything on top is important, the things on the bottom I haven't seen for ages (I hope it isn't important!).  To the right of my NT4-workstation lies a C++ bible.  I like C++, in fact, it's my programming language of choice.  I was a Fortran 77 programmer once upon a time and developed systems for structural analysis.   I don't want to talk about Java as OS, it gives me a headache.  But I like it, just like another programming language (who doesn't!).
     
          I have played with Solid Modeling in 3D- CAD environments, like AutoCAD and CAEDS.  I even wrote a compendium about Solid Modeling, Finite Element Modeling, and Dynamic Analysis of Structures Subjected to Impulsive Loads.  It is being used at the division of structural mechanics in Lunds University of Sweden.

Knowledge base: 
Object Oriented development in C++.
Classical Systems development  in C, Fortran 77 and Pascal.
Structural Engineering and Computational geometry.
Education:
Msc in Structural Mechanics.  Lunds University of Sweden,  graduated 1989.
Bs in Civil Engineering.  Faculty of Engineering, Kabul University of Afghanistan,  graduated 1978.
Languages:
English,  Swedish and of course Persian, which I learned before I knew who I was.

Development of a DXF ( Drawing Exchange Format) - Converter.
System Analysis and Design of a 32 bit GIS (Geographical Information Systems) application for Windows.

 
My Interests
I do like:
      Chess,
      programming in C++,
      listening to music,
      3D-modeling and drawing,
      Sofia Loren, if she was 18 and i was 20 years old,
      learning more english,
      eating,
      sitting still for several hours without doing anything,
      books that are not found at the usual bookstore,
      sleeping 18 hours on sundays.
 
 I do not like:
     TV- sports, absolutely not,
     advertising brochures,
     commercials on whatever media,
     pictures of beautiful models on streets, when I'm driving a car,
     insects that flies into my mouth when I'm bicycling,
     people who knows everything (NOT!),
     tons of animated GIF:s on one single WWW-page,
     all uppercase texts, especially texts starting with capital "FREE".
