I'm Christer Andersson, born 1964, in Sweden. I started sim racing late 1995 when I bought my first wheel, a Thrustmaster T1, but I didn't really start seriously until GP2 came out in August 1996. I like to drive my racing sims as close to reality as possible, hence I never use any aids or helps available in a racing sim. A help or aid can be anything from ABS, anti-spin, anti-skid, the best racing line drawn at the track, auto-gear, etc, etc... Driving without any helps or aids at all is not at all easy, back in -96 in GP2 I drove with auto-gear and ideal line and with the wheel and pedal combo Thrustmaster T1. Back then I tried to loose the auto-gear, but found it impossible :o). Late -96 I bought the Thrustmaster GP1 wheel and connected it to the T1 pedals. Again I tried to loose the auto-gear... Wasn't so hard when I could change gear with my thumbs. Around this time I found the "GP2 No Help Hotlap" competition on the net, so I also got rid of the ideal line and started some serious practicing. Mid -97 I was competing in a league on the net and my wheel pot went sour. I took my old T1 wheel and started to change gear with the stick shift. This was now not hard at all and my best time at Hockenheim in GP2 - 1:39.1 - is done with stick shifting. This site is devoted to many of the aspects of the sport - Sim Racing. |
