The 2nd edition of Sinaia
International Guitar Competition & Festival will take place this year
- between April 27th - May 4th.
It will include:
Accomodation and meals in Sinaia
for only US$ 18 per day (participants only)

1. The Statute
of the International Contest
The contest is open to all the guitar players regardless
of their age and nationality and will include two stages:
- A piece from the Renaissance or Baroque.
- Two movements from a work by J.S. Bach (Suite, Partite, Sonata -
written for lute or other instrument)
- F. Sor - Variations on a theme by Mozart op.9
- H.V. Lobos - Study no.11
The second stage - Final
A Romanian piece at free choice:
- - Dumitru Capoianu - Dodecanez
- - Liviu Dãnceanu - Aria 6 bis op.34.
These pieces may be obtained from the Organizing Committee.
John Duarte - A piece at free choice:
- - Variations on a Catalan theme
- - Musicones
- - Birds
Free programme of maximum 25 minutes.
Any editions of the interpreted pieces will be accepted.
The Jury, consisting of personalities of the Romanian
and international musical life,
will be presided this year by Mr. John Duarte, from England.
The decisions of the Jury are final and cannot be challenged.
The prizes which will be awarded at the contest
are the following:
- First prize: 1,500 US$
- Second prize: 1000 US$
- Third prize: 500 US$
- A special prize, consisting of a concert guitar made by the Romanian
guitar maker
- Constantin Dumitru, will be awarded by the Romanian Guitar Foundation.
The order of performing will be set by drawing lots on Monday, April
27th, 1200 hrs,
in the lobby of the Sinaia Hotel.The contest will start on the same
day, at 1600 hrs.
The participation fee for the contest is 10 US$. The fee will be paid
upon arrival in Sinaia
before the drawing lots.

2. The Masterclass
Simultaneously with the international contest, the Romanian Guitar
Foundation organises
a masterclass with the participation of the international masters of
the genre:
- - John Duarte (England)
- - Costas Cotsiolis (Greece)
- - Harvey Hope (England)
- - Laura Young (Canada)
- - Constin Canelis (Israel)
- - Liviu Georgescu (Romania)
The participants at the masterclass, organised in groups, will study
- by turns - with all the
teachers present at the contest of masterclass. At the end of the course,
all the participants
will receive a diploma certifying the completion of the course of the
masterclass, held by the
above-mentioned masters. The participation fee at the masterclass is
40 US$.

3. Recitals
During the festival, recitals presented by reputed guests of the Romanian
Guitar Foundation
will be held.

4. The contest
of the young guitar players
Will be organised at the same time with the international contest and
will include three
categories of age:
- - under 10 years old
- - between 10 and 13 years old
- - between 13 and 16 years old
The programme for this contest will include a study and two pieces
(different as style and character),
at the contestant choice. The players' entrance on the stage will be
set by drawing lots on Wednesday,
April 30th, 20.30 hrs, in the lobby of the Sinaia Hotel. The Jury will
consist of personalities of the Romanian
musical life and will award prizes in money and gifts. No participation
fee is required for the contest of the
young guitar players. The decision of the jury is irreversible.

Accomodation and meals
The accomodation and meals for the participants will be provided by
first class hotels and restaurants
in Sinaia, especially by the Sinaia Hotel & Restaurant. The accomodation
and meals for the participants
will cost only 18 US$ per day.
